Of course nowhere is completely safe, but the tourist police are your friends as long as you don't act like a crazy Gringo....The country takes good care of expats and tourists...

Although prices have gone up, you still get more bang for your buck here....ladies are gorgeous....

The only downside of living here is that there is no gambling...and they are strict about it.....but Hong Kong and Macau are not far away...seen guys sent home and fined....you can play cards and board games but no money can be seen on the table...

Isn't it odd they are kind of famous for allowing certain things, but not gambling?

Actually prostitution is illegal in Thailand....laws can contradict themselves....

But there are really only three things that are against the law....

Gambling
Underage sex
Drugs

Violate any of those three and you will spend a lot of time in prison....especially the last two.....

The locals will always return a greeting when walking down the street....very genuine.....

Lived in Vegas when I got married in 1980....drove a beer truck and my daughter was born there in 1983...I met Frankie Mastarana and he got me on the ground floor of offshore gambling in 1987...was going through a divorce at the time and I moved to the Dominican Republic and got on the ground floor with CRIS...the rest is history....I have had a great life since those days...
